Intro Does the Old Testament prove that the New Testament Jesus is the long-awaited Messiah? Intro Around 735 B.C., the nation of Judah was being threatened by King Rezin of Syria and King Pekah of Israel. The aggressors' purpose was to compel Ahaz of Judah to join with them in a coalition against Assyria. If he refused to comply with their wishes, they threatened to overthrow his dynasty and put a new-king on the throne of Jerusalem. In this context the Prophet Isaiah confronted King Ahaz.
